Israeli "aid", (and lots of other foreign "aid") is usually earmarked to buy weapons from specific corporations. The money is a tiny, tiny amount in a vast network of revenue streams that run common funds through private hands via defense Keynesianism.
The real benefit that Israel receives is the backing of the western hegemony, which is priceless, worth far more then the aid they get.
You don't even see the Forrest for the trees.
If Israel was attacked, the USA would burn through far more cash then that per day to protect Israel.
And Israel enjoys this protection for simply being part of the western bulwark against Eastern powers.
Israel represents a permanent western foothold in the region, and the USA will happily toss them a few bucks, just as it spends hundreds of billions all over the planet in a huge variety of ways.
The actual benefit of Aid to Israel isn't even financial, not really, they don't actually need that money, they could just make those weapons in-house.
The Aid from America is a psychological assurance to a nation full of people who are propagandized into being paranoid that they will be overrun by their neighbors.
In effect it's basically a placation. And to the US government, the expense is not remotely a big deal.
The real question you should ask is why much smaller countries with far less money (like mine) ALSO provide Aid to Israel.
Because Israel receives on average 300% MORE aid from non-us sources then it receives from the USA.
