In grade 6-10 when going to school with their 2nd and 3rd generation kids of guest workers. Islam and Christianity on a basal level are almost the exact same.
There's some differences in characterization of popular figures. In Christianity, God is often described as "acting in mysterious ways" (as in, nobody can comprehend it because it's above us, just like an ant can't comprehend us) as an explanation for doing things you might view as bad. In Islam, God is usually characterized as a master trickster (as in, he's really good at lying and deceiving) to explain the same thing.
There's other subtle differences and some big ones you're surely aware of that don't really change the doctrine in itself though.
The real difference between christians and muslims today is that almost all christians are moderate. Even the guys living in the bible belt in the US who hate gays and maybe even beat them sometimes. Not hate but I think that it's a dangerous culture. See, religions change and evolve. Bible has violent stuff too, but they went through the reform era. Western culture has changed a lot. On the other hand, muslim world stayed pretty much the same. Whatever the Quran says could be interpreted to suit the needs of the modern days, like other religions did. But for that to happen, first middle-east culture, which is the main issue, needs to change.
