Would be better off without them honestly.
The money from their salaries and operating costs could go into revitalizing neighbourhoods to make them all feel upper class. The money could build schools so kids are never drawn into a criminal lifestyle.
If someone has done something illeagle you report it and the army goes and picks them up and then they go to trial. You don't need thousands of police to go and arrest someone and chances are if someone is about to be arrested they've already committed a crime because someone called for help.
So really an army can arrest people and solve crimes. You don't need extra police to do it. You don't need anybody patrolling the street. Everyone should own a gun too.
Crime would drop drastically. People would save on their taxes. Neighbourhoods would be better. Gah I wish.
