Not if the private event provides adequate security, the point of open carry is that you don't trust response times.
But if you go into a private venue or event being guarded by literally every level of defense possible it makes sense.

That is false. There will be heavily armed US government and privately hired agents there. The public is not allowed to bring guns in though, just like how you can't bring a gun into a football stadium during a game.

But a right isn't an obligation.
