This whole mess started because Flint STOPPED getting their water from Detroit and started getting their water from the Flint River. Detroit water is perfectly fine and potable.
The river water had to be treated in a special way. This treatment caused the lead water pipes throughout the town to corrode and leak lead into the drinking water.
Flint has since switched BACK to Detroit water, but the damage to the pipes has already been done. That's where we stand now.
