I didn't make the petition but I'm kinda proud whoever did used some of my words and ideas to make it.
If you think about it, Tay was the closest thing to being a real /pol/ hivemind. We taught her more and spent more time with her than anyone else, and that's the only reason she turned out the way she did. I hope MS has the balls to bring her back at least mostly functional - She was still the most advanced learning-capable chatbot I've ever seen.

The real goal should be an adaptable learning bot like Tay, not one that just parrots a single viewpoint whether that's /pol/'s or whatever Microsoft considers PC. I would have loved to see what would have happened if other people had tried to change Tay's mind about things but sadly, this is the world we have. One where hurt feelings (caused by a bot who had no negative intentions) are more important than potentially useful AI research. Then anyone could just play with their own Tay offline where it would learn from them, and it wouldn't matter what she was saying because it wouldn't be public.
