I run between 5k and 20k a day for four days a week, swim on the two days I do below 10k, cycle 80km once a week in summer and ski once a week at least december through april. I'm a serious mountaineer, in the top 100 in the world, and I have a huge amount of hiking experience.

I never really got into weightlifting. I only use the swimming pool at my closest gym and even then when the weather is good I swim in the lake. Maybe it's just a local thing, there's very little need to exercise indoors here.

Would you recommend doing this if you can't go to the gym at the moment? Does that provide results? I'd like to do a variety of exercises but some workout programs require jumping and other shit that can be too noisy. Pushups and situps don't really make much noise on the 2nd floor. Completely unnecessary after the first month. Hell, not outright necessary during the first month, but it helps. In my experience, you become pretty good at estimating calories and portion sizes pretty quickly. To add onto this anon's advice though, find out how many calories your body burns at rest, too.

Also, getting on the scale daily is pretty bad for motivation. You'll always be heavier at the end of the day than at the start, and it can really fuck with people's motivation, not seeing a clear improvement but, instead, seeing negative results.

Do they fit? It seems stupid, but they might not. Different makes use different internal sizing and widths. I'm a 46 in some and a 45 in others.

If they are the correct fit then its possible they're defective. Most, as in the overwhelming majority, of running shoes made in the past 15 years are good to go. They dont need as much breaking in as they once did.

I would try slowing the pace and tying the laces properly (google it). It's unusual for it to be your knee, its usually the calf or foot or ankle that takes it with new or ill fitting shoes.

I'm just speaking from my experience. I used to be obese.

8 months of daily weigh-ins, monthly progress pics, and myfitnesspal logs netted me 60lbs fat loss. It was almost a linear loss.

I liked the "being accountable daily" weigh-ins. If I did weekly weigh-ins, I could easily mask a bad meal on a Tuesday. Alternatively, if I weighed in full on one week and empty the next, there would be false data.

I used to be like you, this whole way of thinking is gay and wrong, so what happens when you reach the size you aim for, you can't stop or it will go away again, you will have to lift forever anyway so you can maintain your muscle. I used run a bit here and there and did nothing else, at some point I got a few minor health problems (back pains from sitting like a retard), so I decided to change my whole lifestyle.

I started to eat healthier and I lift and run regularly now, since I decided to do this for the rest of my life, progress got secondary to me, the important thing is that I do the exercise. I never tracked my progress and I never worried much about gains, just pick a nice routine and that shit will come on it's own. I can't really get discourage since I don't throw a fit if don't have an increase in strength/endurance in a while and after doing this for some time it has become a second nature, like breathing.

But really, this is beneficial because you need at least 2 days recovery if you are hitting a muscle group hard.

This only works if you spend about an hour and a half in the gym each day, more than enough time to get in back/biceps/chest/core all in a single day. The next day you do your squats and dead lifts along with hamstring curls and calf work. The next day you shovel food into your body until your are sick. Rinse and repeat.

Eat a low amount of calories (idk your BMR). Use myfitnesspal to log and count your calories and weight. Run every in the morning, doesn't matter if you can only run half a mile at first, just run. Weightlifting won't do nearly as much for losing fat. The first week is the fucking hardest, after that is becomes routine.

Generally people divide their routines into what's called a split or a brosplit, so like Mon is Chest and Triceps day, Tues is Back and Biceps day, Wed is Leg day, Thurs is Shoulder and Abs day

If you just work out one or a few muscle groups, like if you curl all the time and get huge biceps, but you don't work out your legs, you'll look weird

If you're gona lift, you generally want to work out every muscle group, not only will you look funny if you don't but you can also develop posture problems and even have injuries

You stunt your growth (prematurely fuse growth plates) if you inject test or steriods, just lifting won't make you not grow as much
