The GOP is a failed party and they fact that they couldn't win in 2012 should be evidence enough. And it wasn't just Mitt, a more conservative candidate would've lost too.
The right needs to coalesce around a new kind of populist nationalism. Textbook conservatism isn't appealing to people anymore. It's not a bad ideology, but it simply cannot compete in today's political atmosphere. Trump would be doing us all a favor by forcing the party to reevaluate its positions.

Milo is talking about a political realignment. Last time that happened was with Nixon when many people switched parties. Until Watergate Nixon was wildly popular and the coalition of voter he built remained together and was expanded upon by Reagan.
