free is a buzzword
>>
yes but a totally free market can easily be gamed by a select few into no longer being free.

total freedom can only be upheld and witnessed by Allah.
>>
>>68714524
Not when the market ends up controlling the rules of that market and preventing those from entering and competing.
When the top of the market introduce laws and permits to prevent competition that market is no longer free, and that is what we have around the world, once a top company rules an industry they will prevent all new comers from entering the market.
>>
Its easy to criticize the free market, until its gone.
Once you have to wait in bread ques, work a government mandated job, and wear government sponsored jeans you'll realize full socialism isn't very ideal for the common man.

Ironically it doesn't eliminate the rich either, it just makes it so there are fewer people who are even more ridiculously rich.
Or do you honestly believe having a ruling class that controls 100% of the nation's wealth isn't rich?
>>
>>68715658
>>68715671
Then its not a free market you dumbasses. Free markets have low to zero barriers of entry and "perfect" information available. Whether it is fully realistic is another matter but a free market provides the most freedom of choice for both buyers and sellers aka the people

I think open-ended free market scenarios have their uses - such as for colonizing and building the first infrastructures on an untouched continent.

No. People can never have a guarantee of freedom from poverty in a free market.

When is used to be a teen and worked at target I hated the free market, then I grew up and realized that the free market was actually a blessing and should utilize it to my advantage.

I've been shorting oil futures for a year now and I've made 200,000 in this last year.

>>
>>68714524
No, used to think a "free" market was good, now I am leaning more in favour of protectionism and tariffs on foreign goods.
>>
a truly free market can only run under the assumption that either the government is incorruptible or the companies get restricted to zero (0) policy influence.

Neither of this will ever happen, thus a theoretical fully free market could never materialize into a nation.
>>
If a market is free then how does it get funded? Funny how conservatives seem to overlook that simple question.

No. Personal freedom does not follow automatically from economic freedom. This is meme that needs to die because reality is the exact opposite.

no, eventually the industry forms blobs and polarizes, and that's how monopolies form
there has to be regulations and government control of non-essential industries
Teddy Roosevelt style, for example

Free markets assumes that market participants all have equal access to market information, capital financing, and that market risk is reliably quantifiable.

It doesn't take a finance degree to figure out that is bullshit
>>
>>68720477
the problem imo is that free markets rely on the fact that NO ONE ever decides to say "I purchase the entire market deliver it at home tomorrow at 2PM". If someone says that its all over, you need to hope they will only buy small things. Thats the biggest problem of having a market that costs nothing.
>>
>>68714524

to an extent

predatory corps can be oppressive

with no laws against murder, rape, theft, etc. you would be subject to others freedom to kill, rob, rape, etc. you

regulation is necessary for freedom too
>>
>>68721804

*subject to others'
>>
>>68721371
>worrying about things that aren't possible
if anyone were to find themselves with extreme amounts of wealth and began buying everything, they would find the price of everything to keep increasing such that it was impossible to buy everything.

said another way, the free market system allows you to not sell whatever you own to that person. however he may eventually name a price that you are happy to sell to.
>>
>>68714524
Yes -- free trade, no -- government favoritism, subsidies, entitlements, & regulation -- creates greater individual choice and ultimately a free-er people and nations.
>>
>>68721804
How the fuck do you go from free market to ''YOLO NO LAWS!!! MURDER IS LEGAL RACE WAR NOW!!!''?
Are you retarded?
We can't even have the conversation because you guys are retarded. I'd like to discuss libertarian ideas, but everyone's retarded, so I stick to being a conservative.
>>
>>68721922
but who needs extreme amounts of wealth to buy something that is free in the first place?

it's a free market, anyone can buy the market because it's friggin free
>>
freedom is over8d
there are far greater virtues
>>
>>68714524
Freedom isn't really a thing as far as I can tell.
>>
>>68721804
>corporations are a creation of government and don't exist in free markets
>even anarchists understand and employ rule of law so that no one is ever free to kill, rob, or rape without social reprisal
>regulation is necessary for freedom is fucking retarded.

This is an interesting throwback to feudal Europe. It's a lecture by Hans Herman Hoppoe. He goes into length in this lecture and his book "from aristocracy to monarchy to democracy" that a great folly transpired in which the administration of justice was decentralized and voluntary back in the times of aristocracy but kings monopolized that role carried on further by democracy. It's pretty interesting, as he portrays early feudal Europe as quite a libertarian society.

You still have time to accept the fact the only way to truly feel the warm loving companionship is to find the nearest pack animal to release your sexual frustration
>>
To an extent. If any single entity becomes too dominating then the people have a problem. In the gilded age it was the Rockefellers, now people are upset with the federal government, wall street, or economic protectionism, depending on who you talk to.

There is no one-size-fits-all solution. It take creativity to find the answer.
