I can relate in a small way. I'm about as much of a mutt as you can get racially - father is black, some kind of French, and coushatta indian. Mother is Cajun french and some other type of Indian we never identified.
But, despite really having no clear racial lines I have lived in America, specifically Texas, my whole life, with frequent forays into Loui due to relatives. At least I've got a sense of national identify... which, I'd consider myself Texan or just plain Southern rather than American :^)
