You can take a bus, or a bike or walk. It sucks but your chances of being stopped as a pedestrian are exponentially lower than being stopped in a motor vehicle. Most drug charges are made due to a menial traffic stop.

Once I got caught alone in a park smoking with my pipe, the cops told me not to do it because I was near a school and people in nearby houses complained about the smells. They took the weed (was a little bit, less than a gram), they gave my pipe back tho. Just told me to leave peacefully.
But in other occasion I was near my house, 3 friends came and we were walking in the street looking for a chill place to smoke. Then some douchebag neighbour called the cops on us. They fucking assaulted us like criminals, they put cuffs and took us inside to their patrol car.
After half hour of "negociations", they just literally asked us for money (what we call "mordida"). We didn't carry that much weed that night, we were all sober in that moment, but those guys acted like we were ultra narco druglords. They took 1000 pesos from us (about 57 dollars), but they didn't take us to the police station. They just let us go and gave our weed and pipes back.
Basically if you carry small portions is no big deal, a lot of people sell weed here.
