Democracy doesn't work if you let another nation guarantee your sovereignty. You end up with a weak, pathetic nation that lets its corrupt leaders fuck its people over, being completely ignorant of the importance of defending your sovereignty, culture, and people.
The choice is either force European nations to pay the U.S. for defending them, or build up their own defense. Either way, we need to pay up. That's the only reason why socialism worked under the European nations under the wing of the U.S. and why our populations have become so stupid and ignorant of the world around us.
