Hello pol, I am going to explain here briefly what is going on at Brazil right now. It is a happening of large scales for South America because populism is starting to fail spontaneously for the first time.

>commie left-wing party "PT" governs Brazil since over one decade
>led the economy to shit
>enslaved the poor community by giving them small amounts of resources/money instead of jobs thus making them depend on the government and creating a brainwashed loyal population to them
>most likely the most corrupt government ever seen in humanity, they steal billions on a yearly basis

>fast forward to 2014
>Brazilian oil company, Petrobras, goes to shit
>they find out that extremely huge portions of money were deviated from Petrobras to unknown destinies
>it's a fucking huge corruption ring
>an operation to uncover all that shit is created, "Operação Lava Jato" (Operation Jet Wash)
>they end up finding dozens upon dozens of corrupt politicians with this shit

>fast forward to 2016
>they finally find evidence that our ex-president, Lula, our current president, Dilma, and the most iconic politician of the "opposition", Aécio Neves, are too involved
>Lula is the most screwed of them and is also apparently the fucking leader of the entire thing
>they got all evidence and are about to judge Lula and send him to prison
>our president, Dilma, immediately nominates Lula to be a minister, thus giving him the right to only be judged by a privileged court, the Federal Supreme Court
>the Supreme Court is corrupt as fuck and 85% of them are commies planted by PT
>based powerful judge cancels that, Lula is not a minister anymore
>government appeals and wins, Lula is minister again
>based powerful judge fucks them over and Lula is not a minister anymore
>government appeals again
>actually loses
>it's all going well
>suddenly the Supreme Court fucks him over and orders the based judge to transfer the case to the Supreme Court just like that
>now everyone is angry pic related

It still amazes me that we've seen left-populism literally destroy 4 countries (Argentina, Brazil, Spain and Greece) and yet Berniefags want to give it another shot here. They will literally drag every country to hell by the time they're finished.

Anyway, I hope that Brazil gets a Reaginte neoliberal like Argentina and Italy did recently so they can turn their country around.

You mean Tiririca (pic related)?

This guy is proof that democracy doesn't work. He was >literally< a clown that didn't know how to read, running for congressman/deputy/ whatever the fuck is the English term for it (translators show "deputy" which is not quite it)

His catchphrase was literally "I don't know what a deputy does, but if I become one I will find out and I will tell you all" and he received over 500.000 votes being the deputy elected with the most votes ever before

>Sorry for the Portuñol, best I can do.

This probably proves that it was a good thing America spent decades only allowing landowners to vote originally.
>>
>>68459776
Yeah, he didn't take the bribes, and he is actually one of the best deputies/congressmen we ever had. His projects are great, he actually appears at the reunions (nearly no other deputy does) and he isn't corrupt.

My point is, there was no way anyone would know it'd be like this. They voted for a literal clown that didn't know how to read just because he was funny. A clown whose catchphrase was "I have no idea what a deputy does" and "It can't get worse than this".

Accordingly to the data, 94% of the population wants to remove PT. It's not even close to being evenly split.

The problem is that even with those numbers, we can't do anything because

>muh rights
>muh law
>no violence please
>peaceful protests only :^)

Which always result in nothing other than our president mocking the protesters by saying "Oh I love how the Brazilians have criticism and react when things aren't going their way!". This is a fucking joke

He basically went from fighting a couple of goons in the starting level to the last boss of the game if you put in perspective who he's prosecuting now.

They don't need to make him disappear. They will probably try him and send him to jail for breaking the law.

He actually used a scumbag, unlawful move to wiretap Lula's phone. They found an extremely incriminating conversation between him and our president Dilma, and then the conversation "accidentally" leaked to the public. The government is trying to eat his ass because of that.

That depends on whether they are going to the protests or not. Some commies have been getting beaten up during protests, but the commie protestants have been waving scythes around. Both sides are getting aggressive as it goes.

A note on the commie protests: We found recently that they were PAID to go to the protests, and that they served sandwiches to everyone that was protesting at the spot. Even then they only managed to get around 100.000 people (compared to the 2 ~ 3 millions of anti-commies protesters). It's ridiculous

Isn't "Narcos' about Colombia? The fuck?

The only relevant presidential candidates for 2018 would be Lula, Aécio and Bolsonaro. As I said at the initial post, Lula and Aécio are likely to get v& soon, which only leaves Bolsonaro who is a very based extreme right-wing hated by many because they think he is racist and homophobic. I fear they will take literally anyone else just so they won't see him as president. Think of him as Brazil's trump, he makes the blood of the lefties and progressives boil.

Is your work involved with the canal somehow? If so you would surely get a better opinion by asking people from your work area. As a Brazilian all I can say is that 95% of the Brazilians are not even aware that canal exists. It won't be the target of any protests.

What I don't know is if the trade between Brazil and other nations continues even after a government melt down.

However, I assure you that the government won't break. We had an impeachment before, things will continue normally and smoothly. Thing is, the guy assuming presidency if an impeachment goes through is also corrupt, and there is a good chance that people will want to impeach his ass to while on the roll. I am pretty sure that the next guy in line is also corrupt, and so is the other one, basically everyone in line is corrupt and if we want to clean up the situation we will have to impeach candidate after candidate until we reach re-elections. And doing that will be a chore because in order to impeach someone you need concrete evidence they are criminals, which is something we don't have for most of them.

So: No, the government won't break down, but it is extremely unstable and we might be changing presidents every month if things actually start happening. You can continue your trades normally if that is your work area.

Don't you guys do this every 40 years only to replace said leaders with new subtly corrupt leaders?
>>
>>68465316
We actually replace them with the military again, who then last about 20 years in power before the people rise again.
>>

The people then keep control for 30 more years and the circle repeats

We always replace them with lefties and commies save for one time where we put the military on and faced dictatorship.

But this time it's different. As we find corruption scandals, the right wing gains more power, ammunition and supporters. There's a good chance we will get a right-wing president on the chair now (hopefully Bolsonaro, he's also anti-SJW, the Brazilian Trump pretty much)

There was a murder yesterday after a lawyer denounced that the Worker's Party (PT/Lula) was using ambulances to take people to the leftist protests.

There is no need to revolt right now, because everything is going fine, The Impeachment was aproved, they are already voting for who will be in charge of the Impeachment.

Lula is not a minister and Moro is hunting more and more people, news isn't stopping, people are still delating, but everything has become minor compared to the stuff Lula said in the taps.

It's going fine, and the protests are putting extremely weight on each decision, the Impeachment process is happening FAST.

People are camping in front of the Chamber of Deputies, anything go south and there will be fight.

We have a law called "Ficha-Limpa", anyone has been prosecuted can't participate on politics anymore.

And the police force are about to approve a law that gives them more autonomy.

Dilma is our president, she is in the process of Impeachment right now, she has 10 to prove her innocence and it will be voted again.

Once she lose her presidence she will be judged by a first instance judge (probably Moro, since he is in charge of the investigations) and will go to the jail.

And that's when things gets interesting, because she will get about 30/40 years, so she will probably delate their "friends". So she can minimize for about 10/15 in jail on a "home jail".

Thanks for the summation friend. You wrote that up well. I have a hard time understanding why South America is so fucked up. It is easy to just dismiss it as African genes equals African outcome... but I wonder sometimes if it is that simple.

You people are so strange to me. You give a murder a 15 or 20 year sentence, even the Monster of the Andes (massive serial killer) got less time than over a hundred thousand Americans are currently serving for drug offenses.

You have no death penalty, but clearly life is cheap as fuck - and people will use mob justice to hack a robber to pieces on the street... but the death penalty is too harsh? What the fuck?

I see millions of you guys protesting the corrupt Government... but not a single politician has lost their head. In the French Revolution they overthrew a Monarchy that had ruled for hundreds of years. And they cut their fucking heads off. I know you guys know how to do that - what is stopping you? Is you life in shitty Brazil really so wonderful you are afraid to give it up?

I think Thomas Paine said it best "Give me Liberty, or give me Death." People like really, truly mean it. I will not live without my Freedom. I choose not too. It would be worse to me than death. I could not face myself in the mirror. How do entire nations do it?

>Who gives a shit if some ex-president is corrupt, why aren't you dealing with the top guy?

The funny thing is that he is the top guy. It is rather ridiculous. The retard that is with the presidential band makes sure to act as his puppet.

He, in theory, it is an ordinary citizen - and is being investigated by the ordinary justice (in this case by the Federal Justice of Paraná, under the judge Sérgio Moro). To escape the reach and gain special jurisdiction in the Supreme Court, the cretin named him minister.

In doing so, she called him, stating the intentions. The phone was tapped by court order. The confidentiality of the recordings was removed.

This is being very entertaining.
