Hybrid vigor only usually lasts 1 generation. it is well known in the animal husbandry world. From Cattle to horses, to dogs and cats to any domesticated animal where breeders are exercising unnatural selection to get a specific product.
Lets take horses for example. The Trakehner is a German sport horse. They are often crossed with English throroughbreds. The resulting hybrid can be an excellent sport horse. However, if that hybrid has papers to breed, they will only allow the hybrid to breed with one of its two sires breeds. The line has to be normalized. If the hybrid breeds with an outgroup, the resulting animal will be very poor. This is very common with dogs. 1st generation mutts are usually amazing dogs. Breed a mutt with an outgroup breed or worse, another mutt, and you get a litter of puppies that suffer from high rates of cancer later in life, stupidity, behavioral problems, and a veritable laundry list of other risks.
Remember, too, that temperament is an inheritable trait and is often bred for specifically. Human physical traits and temperament certainly follow the same rules.
