Their line of thinking is - More Muslims are "normal", and only a minority (still a lot though...) are "fundamentalists". Therefore, it's not "Islam" as only the good interpretation is real.
This is obviously bad logic, as it doesn't offer any sort of solution at all, but merely brushes the problem under the rug.
What people need to face up to is - fundamental Islam is real, it is Islam, it is as legitimate as any other interpretation of Islam, and only when that occurs can we start to pinpoint the "bad" Muslims from the "normal" ones. As it stands all these Muslim terrorists are made out to be some fake Muslims, and there is obviously no way to find them amongst "real" Muslims or that'd be wrong and racist.
Because a dude who identifies as a woman is unquestionably a woman, but someone who identifies as a muslim is only a muslim if liberal white folks agree they're a nice person.
