Here's what Trump is doing; he knows those who are liberal on immigration (and that covers most democrats and a significant number of republicans) want amnesty for certain illegals. Certain visa overstays, parents, students, etc. Trump doesn't want that, and it'll be the first thing they put onto the table when negotiating immigration.
So that's where the wall comes in. It forces the liberals to put their effort towards taking the wall out, or at least negotiating it down to the completion of the 2006 fence. And in order to get to that, they'll have to give concessions, such as reforming the guest worker visas and other things Trump wants, which most of the pro-amnesty republicans are in favor of anyways.

Underage anchor babies have not been exercising their rights as citizens and their parents have mostly used them to get welfare. Those under 18 at the time of the law clarifying it can be removed from the citizenship rolls as the law will inevitably come after the large scale deportation of illegals and those kids will be back in mexico/guatemala/poland/haiti/the philippines.
