Ah I understand now. In America, an MD is granted after you finish medical school (4 years), but you can't do anything by yourself, so you start residency. For a radiologist specifically, residency is 4 years. After residency you are eligible for board certification. Only after you get certified can you practice medicine by yourself. So yeah, I think a board-certified American MD is equivalent to a Swiss Dr. Med.
