A leading British university has put signs in their toilets, “designed for international students”, pleading with them not to stand or squat on the loos or leave their business on the floor.
The signs appear on the University of Sheffield’s campus; a ‘redbrick’ Russell group institution, which is rated as one of the top ten universities in the country and top 100 in the world.
However, some of the brainy students appear to be lacking in respect for, or cultural awareness of, western sanitary norms.
One on the new signs read: “Do not put toilet paper on the floor,” followed by: “Put toilet paper in the toilet bowl and flush.”
Another shows students how to sit correctly and urges them not to squat on the toilet seat. A third adds: “Please leave this toilet as you wish to find it. No standing on seats.”
“The toilets have been left in an awful state. It’s pretty disgusting and the cleaners have had enough. There’s only so much they can take,” a Sheffield University source told the Sun.

Do consider the fact that flushing paper down the toilet is a commodity that only richer countries with good plumbing, strong pipes, and higher pipe pressure have.
Many poorer countries out there leave TP baskets where you throw shit-stained TP instead of flushing it. If you flush it down, the pipes won't be able to take it and it will clog it up.
This is why people from 3rd world countries may be used to throwing TP into a basket. They may have been told all their lives that putting it in the toilet will clog it.
