And Russia has achieved a lot. For Russia to have kept pace with the western hegemony for so long was amazing.

But I grew up during the cold war, conditioned to hate Russia, and to be ready to fight it at any time. So there is part of me that will never trust Russia. And I don't know if that's from being propagandized, or from recognizing that Russia is always ruled by profoundly corrupt leaders, and actually could very easily be turned against anybody, at any time.
