Canada had plenty of real socialist policies in the 70s/80s he doesn't talk about either. Real socialism is nationalized industry like hydro, insurance, health care ect.
We have both socialized insurance, and hydro where I live. The government after each election installs their cronies into executive roles at said socialized crown corperations with GIGANTIC non industry standarf salaries and bonuses.
Every year they also take all the profit into general revenue, this forces the corps to continuously increase rates year after year as there is no money kept to handle problems, and leadership is totally corrupt.
They also became general fine collection agencies, so if you had any sort of police fine, outstanding student loans or taxes you are unable to renew a driving license or purchase insurance until you pay it off.
Socialism = nightmare that only benefits the extreme rich unless there is transparent hiring practices, no cronyism, and laws to prevent socialized industry from crossing into police and state collections.
