because they have never had to provide for themselves, even if they have had jobs, and they still believe that most young people are cool.
right after the big hippy-fest in america of the 60s, there was a decent movie called "the big chill", which dealt with former hippies learning about reality. the best line was the liberal lawyer who had dreamed of fighting against the system just to find out that all her clients "seemed so guilty".

Too be honest Das Kapital isn't such a bad read. I think there are good thing to take out of this book in the historical context but that stops there. Except some analogies about "class struggles" ,dwelling in his ideas will only makes minimum wage workers stays into theirshit because "class solidarity bro". Seeing someone that was to get out of his misery shouldn't be considered treason.

Academics are Marxist.
Curriculum is written with a Marxist slant.
Social media has a Marxist slant.
Haven't had to live in the real world.

It's fashionable. What sort of person places a photograph of a political figure next to a plant pot (and describes it as 'avant-garde deocrating')? Fidel is decently-dressed and the girl's friends recognise him, and together they can fantasise about communism. They might have read Marx since all of their friends know Marx, but they won't have read the criticisms of his work since none of their friends care to and so they also find that there's no need to.

For the first time they are no longer being immediately supported by Mom and Dad, and they want the Government to act as their parent.
It's why they talk about having the government 'provide' healthcare/childcare/welfare/etc. The government needs to 'protect' them from physical and emotional harm, and 'provide' them with the basics of life.
This is basically how the left think, and slowly inch their way toward getting it. Communists just want it all faster and will support tyrannical leaders that they think will make it happen.

As to your question, it's an entire generation raised entirely by the state. Single mothers relying on the state. Education taught by state workers, encouraging trust in the state.
Is it any surprise that this is the culmination of such rearing? Unlike their single mothers, the state NEVER hurt them. Combine this with the death of relgion, people looking to be a part of something bigger than themselves look to the state. Pretty pathetic in my opinion.

That's not accurate. Liberal views are held by those of middling intelligence. Dumb people and really smart people hold conservative views. Basically liberals are just smart enough to delude themselves
Because in most situations where democracy is still a thing, you end up being fucked over.
It is better to have a leader who is a selfish prick and only interested in staying in power and in his own country than "muh fredum"
Again, it all depends on the leader, that's why it can end up being a safe heaven or just pure bullshit.

To be honest, it's largely driven from the fact that while young, people our age wish to have an "identity". They want to be known for something.
They want to stand out and rebel.
For many people, this takes form as supporting socialism. It's because it's "alternative" and is not a commonly supported idea.
It marks the followers as different, and that's what they strive for. If we all lived in a socialist world, they'd strive to be different in another way. They may rebel against the system by constantly marking things as "their property".

No, anon. The key factor isn't intelligence, it's education. All major universities are left-leaning, at least since the 1960/70's. Imagine a world where the Nazis won. All universities would be national socialist and only argue about minor details of the ideology. All educated people (which correlates with intelligence, status and wealth obviously) believe in what they've been taught there. Left-wing believes would mostly be restricted to some "uneducated" rednecks on the countryside and so on...

Soviet plants in the 70s that indoctrinated the youth of the time.
This youth has grown up with unshakeable beliefs no amount of proof or reason can change them. This youth are now having children and are in positions of power. They are in government departments, they are teachers they are in odd cases business owners.
Were the Soviets still around they would never have needed to war the US because the US is going to collapse on its own because of entire generations of people that earn nothing but expect everything.

A big trend with lefties I know is the worker co-operative system of business over the "exploitative" hierarchial system of business we have today.
