My town looked a lot like some of the stuff in here, albeit a bit more modern because it sprang up in the 1910's while a lot of these are from the 1800's.

As others have said blacks are usually in cities because they moved there, or stayed in the south after slavery for work. Many stayed in the south because it was guaranteed work and you didn't have to travel, the ones that moved went to cities for jobs that required no experience, they had none after slavery (most whites had little to no education either but muh privilege)

This is a picture of a town called Copper Harbor. It's population is 100-200 people. It's the northern most town of Michigan's upper peninsula. The whole region in which it's located is called the Keweenaw Peninsula. In the mid to late 1800's, the area was rich in copper and supported cities that were as populous as Detroit in its prime. By now, the copper is virtually nonexistent.
Today, the area is home to Michigan Technological University (my university), where ~7000 students are in attendance, otherwise there is nothing but wilderness and little towns like Copper Harbor. If any of you ever get a chance, this region is definitely worth exploring. Absolutely beautiful in any season.
