Hitler fought in a just war to defend his homeland. Vietnam was a colossal mistake and there's absolutely no shame in having used any trick necessary to avoid dying in some nameless gook jungle for absolutely no reason.
If this was a couple generations back and we were talking about how Trump dodged the draft to avoid being sent to fight the Japanese then you'd have a legitimate point but avoiding Vietnam should be a point in his favor.

They're not protesting his draft-dodging per se, but more his immense hypocrisy. He wants to put more service people in harms way by escalating the conflict in Syria and Iraq, as well as potentially initiating conflict with Iran (he blatantly stated he would have used military force to retrieve the US soldiers Iran legally detained for breaching their territory). This tells you he's willing to risk the lives of others to prove a political point, when he wasn't willing to risk his own. This is the opposite to his someone like Sanders, who quite literally would only authorise use of force in self-defence, or to prevent potential genocide (see his votes on the Yugoslav wars). He WOULDN'T risk war and therefore American lives to retrieve 5 soldiers who were legally detained and released less than 48 hours afterwards anyway.

It significantly lowered the chances of nuclear war, yes, but it didn't kill them. Recently there has been an escalation where things are coming close to cold war levels of tension. I'm not saying to let them invade whatever they want. I'm saying not to escalate to nuclear war just because of Russia invading some territory. Applying economic sanctions was able to stop them pretty quickly. If that doesn't work in the future, then nuclear war should still be avoided at all costs, because the human race surviving will always be preferable to its self destruction. Russia wouldn't be able to sustain an invasion and they would face tremendous internal pressure if they had too many sanctions applied, so they would probably self destruct before even gaining much more land. Ideally, there should be a detente to avoid even continuing tension
