I grew up listening to Beck in his hay-day. It was witty, funny, and informative but now it's just plain depressing. Haven't listened in YEARS. And it's because of crap like this.

I don't know how familiar you are, but all the left-wing groups called up every big company who advertised during Glenn Beck's show and demanded they boycott Beck after he called Obama a racist. Despite drawing 2-3m viewers daily, which is very high for the 5 PM slot, his show was a black hole of advertising. No one would buy commercial time because they didn't want hundreds or thousands of angry leftists calling them.

My local AM station has a great morning show, but around 9AM they use to put beck on. And I'd listen to him coming back from school and he was good, to the extent he knew that marxist have infiltrated our institutions etc.

If you watched Glenn Beck's conspiracy hour on FOX News before it got cancelled, he'd talk at length about Soros and co. before anyone else was calling them out. He also spent up to half the program talking about Enlightenment writers and the Founding Fathers.

I started watching Beck when he showed up in the 6pm time slot on Headline News. I found him to be a decent alternative voice compared to the crap CNN had at the time.
It was pretty apparent CNN was using the HLN slot as a trial balloon to see how he'd fly with their primary channel audience.
I think Beck started to go flaky when it became clear CNN wouldn't bump him to prime time. That slight over-the-top rhetoric got him his preferred slot over at Fox.
At which time it appears he stopped taking his meds...
