Even if I reconcile everything scientific reasoning and the "god of the gaps" theory and suddenly spring a mountain of faith why should I be Christian?
I didnt grow up in a religious household (even if my mother believes (yet never attends church.) I never attended church as a child and so never had it drilled into me. The few times i went to church and the morning prayers in my state school were the most dull moment of my life.
Couple that with a religion that both tells me pretty much that I must prostrate myself to my "betters" and be a slave to a mighty beings will and I have never really like that idea it reminds me of middle age peasantry being surfs.
To top it off the religion is fractured into hundreds of factions all claiming the true interpretation and the religion doesn't even have its origins in Europe.
I have nothing against most modern Christians they keep to themselves but I would rather choose the religion of my ancestors because it was created by them and the mythology is more appealing to me anyway. Even then though I know that they all amount to stories. So what then? I may as well just stick to being an agnostic athiest and base my moral judgement and beliefs off of what rational arguments can convince me.
