As time goes on, I'm beginning to question whether marriage is a good idea or not. Here's my arguments against marriage:

>you can still have a monogamous relationship out of marriage
>in the case of divorce, you're safe when it comes to division of assets (rather, lack thereof)
But there's some benefits to marriage:

>get tax breaks
In the past, marriage was a lifelong commitment through thick and thin. It was in each person's interest to work through the shortcomings and eventually overcome them. But now? Divorce is rampant. 100 years ago divorce was a once-in-a-blue-moon kind of ordeal, it was exceedingly rare, but now it's fairly commonplace.
My dream for a long time was to have a beautiful wedding with a pretty and polite lady, get married and have two children. But now I'm a little scared of marriage.
Can someone here clear my mind?
the tax breaks you get are negligible to the amount of bullshit that comes your way if the marriage ever goes south.

Yeah, divorces in individual marriages are not determined by coin flips. Find a high-quality girl who will put in a lot of continual effort into having a positive, healhty relationship, while you do the same, and divorce is highly unlikely. And if you are worried about all the statistical stuff just know it's not even across the board. The "tax break" only makes sense if you live on a single income.
With two incomes (as is increasingly becoming the case), you're basically paying the same amount of taxes as if you're single.

Of course that also means that the women do not get any financial protection by the law if I divorce.
