How can Americans seriously support an ideology that their ancestors fought against, and that goes against every little bit of American "culture"?

America was a white country until the 1960s, when the borders were reopened to legal immigration. We've always had a small black population, sure, but they were benign and mostlg went along with our culture.
The racial purity is less of a factor, as you've said, we're mutts here. What I'm talking about is ideological purity. It's not just that the people coming here are non-white, it's that they hold values that are incompatible with the American core.

My family members fought against the Germans and Japanese in World War 2 for the very same reason my ancestors fought against the Federal troops in the Civil War.
If your home is threatened, and your neighbors are going off to protect it, honor dictates that males who are old enough and able should aid in the defense. It is the same reason I serve now.
I don't care who it is, if they are coming to do harm to me or my family or my neighbors, I will fight that person. It doesn't matter who starts the war, either. If my government unjustly starts a war, it is still my duty to fight because my efforts will tilt, ever so slightly, the outcome of the war in favor of me and my neighbors. If people go to a foreign country under our flag and lose, there may very well be foreign troops marching in my neighborhood, victimizing those of us who thought the war was unjust and refused to fight.
I describe myself as a fascist, but I have neighbors who are not. My neighbors are still on my side when it comes to foreign troops marching down our streets.
