I think religion is fucking retarded and I absolutely welcome a gradual fading of religion from society. I think it has absolutely no place in national politics.
I don't mind the welfare state provided its primary goal is to get people out in work and give them temporary means to live on while this is worked towards. Welfare for people with genuine, provable and diagnosable disabilities needs to exist in a society to prevent homelessness.
I don't think gun ownership is an objective, unalienable right and in European cultures that's generally how gun ownership is viewed. I also doubt how effective it would be in the event of fighting against an oppressive, modern military force. I believe strict licensing needs to be the case for weapon ownership, but I disagree with an outright ban.
Universal healthcare works well in many European countries and the reason for, say, many failures in the British NHS is that many governments in recent history have been cutting funding when the NHS needs an increased funding. How well it would work in the US I'm undecided about.
I don't mind gay people nor do I mind transsexuals provided they don't shove it up in my face. They are just people too. I don't believe the state should forcefully intervene with institutions like privately driven churches to force them to accept same-sex marriage.
Free education works well, but a lot of courses needs to be removed from universities and higher education. Universities and higher education should only provide real education that gets the student a job, which pays into the tax system.
Climate change is a real issue and must be dealt with. Not only is it a step in the right direction in regards to solving the energy shortage in this world, but people are less healthy as a result of pollution. Focussing solely on CO2 however is retarded, as there are more dangerous polluting elements to care about.

this, on top of an unstoppable cost deferment system ingrained in the US, medicare/medicaid.
it's not a right, and certainly not everyone deserves it, but it's more cost efficient for 90% of the populace, with the other 10% being able to do even better.
