what hes doing is pandering to the disillusioned americans who hate liberals. once hes in a one on one with hillary he'll go full businessman/moderate and itll steal a shit ton of votes from her. hes one of the most well spoken guys ive seen in business and he'll use that when he feels its appropriate

No, he would be looked over.
He's succeeding because he relates to the average joe.

No. If he spoke intelligently like Ron Paul, he'd be overshadowed.

It's mind-numbingly boring and the flaw of democracy is that it must pander to the lowest common denominator - the common person, of common intelligence and perception.

And talking factually as he does here could never inspire the ardent admiration, enthusiasm, joy and ASMR's that you or I share for hearing him speak.

A video of him exploiting a very minor recession caused by the business cycle to ask for favorable tax treatment for his industry over other industries? I'm shocked.

For those not familiar the Tax Reform Act of 1986, it lowered tax rates in a revenue raising way by removing nearly all special treatment. 15% was 15% for everyone making that amount of income. 28% was 28% for everyone making that amount of income (plus a bubble rate). Passive income sources, especially real estate, became less appealing without special treatment.

I don't recall if the favorable treatment for real estate investment was inserted back into the tax code in 1993 or 2001, but even 1993 was already after recovery was underway. Trump just wanted special treatment, but special treatment wasn't necessary for recovery.

Of course Trump is smart, he's just hiding his power level.

People really don't want a smarter leader but someone who they can level with. He's playing the "Hey, I want to have a beer with that guy." card.

It's intentional. He's not going to load up his speeches with political and legal jargon because more people aren't going to understand what it really means. And when people hear someone speak in terms they can understand, they tend to gravitate to that person. You see the polls; he's doing great with lowly educated voters, and that's the one of the largest voting blocs. It's the sign of a great communicator really, being able to dumb things down for others to understand.

Now, I do agree he should, at least in some interviews, speak like he does in the video. It'd help him appeal to the more educated voting blocs. He needs to mix it up a bit, especially when we get to the general election.
>>
>>68073020
Ignore the delegates counts. Each party runs a different system, the raw numbers are incomparable.

National statistics for support are incredibly unreliable right now, and will be for some time.

The figures you get now are based on the current landscape:

The democrats and GOP are both against Trump.
All avenues of the media are against Trump.
Trump is running on an angry, oversimplified, platform based on (mostly) conservative issues and a cult of personality.

If Trump gets the nomination (brokered convention or through getting the magic number) then the GOP falls in line. If they don't then I can't tell you what happens. Every bet is off. Anyway, assuming Trump gets the nod and the GOP falls in line, then accordingly the majority of the conservative media will fall in line as well. Suddenly having speaking head DEFENDING Trump will change his favourability ratings instantly. The conservative media will then also start concerning itself with Hilalry, instead of putting 80% of it's negative powers into Trump. Again, this will cause an instant change in Hillary's favourability will fall (not by much because of WHO is talking, but there will be some drop).

If the hunch around these parts is right, then once it's a 1 on 1 race Trump's entire demeanour and platform will change (though he will still have an angry edge at time, especially when attacking Hillary's character in the way that only he can). He DOES have some liberal and liberal leaning opinions, he just barely talks about it and everyone is attacking him on his character instead of policies right now (and the few times they do attack on policies it's on the 'conservative' talking points). His favourability with liberals and more importantly independents will rise.

In all honesty, as long as the GOP really does embrace him when the time comes, and there are no fuckhuge scandals (doubtful there will be any), then this election *could* be a landslide for Trump.

You can't compare delegate between the two parties; they use different systems.

There are a total of 4763 delegates in the democratic primaries. 712 of these delegates are superdelegates, which get to pick whoever they want for the nomination. To win the democratic nomination, you need 2382 delegates.

In the republican primaries there are 2472 delegates, with no superdelegates. You need 1237 to win the republican nomination.

As far as national support goes, it's hard to say until we get into the general election, and the candidates being to take shots at each other. The polls that have hypothetical match-ups against potential nominees this early are bogus; they have been bogus in nearly every election cycle thus far.

The best we can go off of, in terms of national support, is to look at how many people are voting in the primaries, and overwhelmingly thus far, there has been a staggeringly high turnout in the republican primaries and very low turnout in democratic primaries, even in the states that traditionally vote democrat. It's basically a reverse of the 2008 election, when the democrats has massive turnouts, and the republicans had low turnouts.

There are a lot of variables at play.

There IS a very easy to see pathway for him becoming president.

Personally I wouldn't be placing any bets right now.

The biggest obstacle is the GOP removing the stick from their arse, and getting the media they control/influence to start shilling FOR Trump.

The second I see a few specific establishment mooks change their tune, and see a few positive pieces across several different conservative outlets is the second I place money on him. I thought the last debate might have been the time, the way Kasich was refusing to attack him at all even when the moderators kept giving him great opportunities, but I was wrong.
