I was a NEET for about a month in between jobs after finishing grad school. There were a few setbacks when I was beginning to transition into a full-time position after only getting a part-time job right out of school.
It was alright for about a week, but holy fuck it gets depressing fast. I bounced back and got into a solid position with great hours and benefits, and I still have more than enough time to read books, play video games, etc. Being able to provide for myself and be self-sustaining is good.
