I always hear young people banging on about how bad Thatcher was which is interesting considering they never lived under her rule. She fixed a country that was on its knees, restored British prestige, and fucked the unions that were holding the country to ransom (3day working week, blackouts, rubbish men not collecting garbage etc)
She wasn't perfect, poll tax, could've helped people affected by industrial closes more, and she was too slow on the ball with Europe (she began her career very pro-EU until the end where she realised ultimately that it's goal would undermine British sovereignty.)
People just moaning about something they have little or no understanding about. Overall she was probably our last solid Prime Minister. It all went to shit John Major onwards.
