The media portrays him as an evil psychopath but in reality he cares more about AIDS and HIV victims more than any of the people criticizing him, what he is doing by raising the price of the toxoplasmosis drug is helping these people, not hurting them, if they can't afford the drug then he sends them a box of it for free.
He raised the price of the drug because the drug is fucking horrible and does more damage to the recipient's body than toxoplasmosis actually does. His company is running at a loss 24/7 because he is personally investing huge amounts of money into developing a better drug than the one that he raised the price of, this move that is being criticized so much is just an attempt to put more money into the development of the new drug and to put pressure on people to invest in a replacement drug that actually works and doesn't literally kill the recipient 75% of the time they take it.
