no they really aren't. private industry has always given countries the upper hand. ok, sure, state owned industry is a lot fairer, and isn't always bad, but private industry has:

Not as if YOU have to do it all day, there are more people qualified for tons of specific fields than there are job openings for said fields.
If you give someone all that they want and all that they need without ever having a fear they will lose it they will dedicate that time into something productive.
Most people in todays world spend most of their time in fear of losing the things they need and not being able to afford the things they want which forces them to be greedy and forces them to cherish their free time due to the high stress environment life is.
