>Flying is constantly becoming safer and safer. As more planes take to the skies, it's to be expected that sometimes accidents will happen.

why do they want us to believe this so much?
>>
Well, it's true. Theres planes that crashed because they someone crashed into each other. Anything's possible
>>
>>67995518
because it's true
at any moment in time there are about half a million people in the air around the world
think of a city of half a million people. some of them will die each day. plane crashes are news because so many die at the same time.

Helium airships are much safer, even hydrogen airships, then solid airplanes if you compare the crash-accident ratio's, and I'm talking about airships from the 1920's / 1930's who where safer then modern airplanes, I havent even begun yet on modern airships.

if they're shot, or if the engines fail, they slowly descent towards the ground.

It's true. Maybe in Croatia they don't teach you numbers, but plane crashes are very rare.
''They'' want you to believe it because plane companies suffer loses every time their planes crash. People are less likely to board a plane that belongs to a company that just had a plane crash.
They have to save their image.

Heres a modern small zeppelin.
>>
>>67995964
Even including the hindenberg they are still safer. Plus we are smart enough to not use hydrogen + flammable coatings.

Muh moneyz. Muh control over global trasport.

Daily remainder that flying with planes is the most retarded discovery ever existed.

Do you guys think its down to drunk pilots or drunk ground crew?
>>
>>67995518
Because Millions more people die from car accidents than plane crashes?
>>

sounds really fucking russian to me
>>
>>67995904
They're also slower, which is bad for business. If a few dozen people die a year to be faster than a blimp, then that is perfectly acceptable to the airline industry.

>flydubai
More like flyGOODbai, amirite?

how many commute by car?
how many commute by plane?
how many car accidents are single car accidents?

Man, Zeppelins and blimps are so cool. Shame they're not practical.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aviation_safety
The fatal incident rate has declined steadily ever since, and since 1997 the number of fatal air accidents has been no more than 1 for every 2,000,000,000 person-miles flown (e.g., 100 people flying a plane for 1,000 miles (1,600 km) counts as 100,000 person-miles, making it comparable with methods of transportation with different numbers of passengers, such as one person driving an automobile for 100,000 miles (160,000 km), which is also 100,000 person-miles), and thus one of the safest modes of transportation when measured by distance traveled.

You are more likely to die driving to an airport than you are on a plane. There are thousands of flights each day. Every once in a while even pilots fuck up. Tens of thousands get in automobile accidents each day though.

http://www.cnn.com/2016/03/18/europe/russia-plane-crash/
>The plane's pilot circled the airport, waiting for the weather to clear before making a second attempt to land, but the aircraft's tail had clipped the runway, it said.

>CNN aviation expert Mary Schiavo said radar suggested the plane had flown three large, looping circles around the airport before it crashed.
>"The poor visibility is probably the biggest clue," Schiavo said. "But this runway was lighted, it had good lighting at one end and passable lighting at the other and it did have an instrument landing system."
>"With the clue of bad weather and making at least three different circles trying to reorient to this runway, it does look like pilot disorientation."

Tailstriking on an instrument landing is a huge cuckup on the part of the pilots.
>>
Pilot here,

Flying has become safer and safer each and every year. There are so many plans and procedures for everything. GPS, radar, etc. What happened in Russia is bad weather and probably a pilot who thought he was good to go. Pretty much all crashes happen in IMC.
>>
>>67995736
>because it's true
>at any moment in time there are about half a million people in the air

Yep, and all of them are practicaly dead. Only the skills of the pilots and the quality of their equipment are the things that bring everyone to life at each landing.
>>
what sintresting is that the ground personell in russia is responsible for weather related accidents if they failed to report any weather phenomena. that means, these guys often report stuff that cant even happen in real life, like thunderstorm and fog, stuff like that, because they want to be on the safe side.

of course that leads to pilots not giving a shit about russian weather warnings anymore. another thing is that russian aviation works with meters and kmh instead of nautical miles and knots, which is also a little confusing sometimes.

topkek
>>
>>67995904
I doubt it on fatalities/km basis. Airships are fucked when it comes to long distance travel and extreme weather, too slow and highly vulnerable.
>>
>>67995518
Nah. Back then in the 80s, there were more accidents with fatalities than today. And there were many less flights too.

Now, the thing is, Russians could be the one to blame if they didn't provide any reliable information, but Arab pilots are known to be quite shitty when it comes to shit weather.
Don't get fooled by Emirates' beautiful interiors, many of their pilots are not Arabs and the management is mostly white. Not sure about Flydubai though. According to some info, the pilot might be Greek.
Oriental airlines are known to never divert in case of bad weather unlike Western-managed airlines. Western pilots, for the most part, love to divert whenever the weather is terrible. Arabs don't do that because they might get fired because of internal pressure from their company.

We were actually dealing with a similar situation regarding oil tankers a while back.

This video should explain it all
