I was quite triggered by this. Usually I'll see stories like this go by, and I'll do nothing about it. But this time I did something different: I shared it on normiebook.
Something interesting happened. There is a subset of my friends list (high school friends, old church members, etc.) who started sharing it like wildfire. I think you'll find that those who aren't trying to status-signal (less educated, less pozzed people) will grab these stories and run with them.
If you have a bunch of sentimental proles on your normiebook, these stories are great grist for the mill. Colin Flaherty is an inexhaustible wellspring of this stuff, too.

Back in the day this guy killed a cop here in Brisbane(Australia) and then went on the run in the bush for about a week before they found his body.
Rumour had it that the cops found him on day two and beat him to death and then left the body to rot before "finding it".
