First, poor people here NEED welfare because the government makes it IMPOSSIBLE to survive without it with it's abusive taxes, they wouldn't need welfare to start if it wasn't for that.
Second, our market is NOT free at all, we have thousands of regulations that stop people from starting new business, government owned companies have monopolies (Petrobras), etc...
Basically socialism gives with one hand (welfare) and takes it with the other (taxes). In one year the average Brasilian works 5 months goes just to pay taxes.
