Either Trump or Cruz win and change the face of the party or they try to stump them and lose the election to Hillary. Hillary then has 8 years to change the demographics of the country, plenty of time. She'll go full Merkel and dye the country blue.
All she has to do is flip Texas to blue and the GOP will be unable to win a presidential election again.
Stumping Trump and/or Cruz at a brokered convention is absolutely retarded given the stakes and the fact that it will lead to a certain GOP loss.
That said, many of the members of the GOP establishment are career losers who are very stupid. I wouldn't put something like this beyond them, though I do hope that the rest of the party will have the sense to pull them away from the ledge.
