I learned how to disarm people, especially if they don't believe they can be disarmed. It's possible to break his arm and nose and have the weapon in a little over ten seconds. I'd advise every European to take a self-defense course, maybe even attend regular classes.

I'll refer to >>67933418 this makes sense to me but with the complete obedience in the UK and many other EU countries the majority of the population aren't trained in self defence to that kind of extent, in school and stuff we did little bits of martial arts shit in gym class as a bit of a general fitness thing but no one really took it seriously, whenever I see people talking about disarming an attacker who has a weapon it's still really hard to think about it actually happening to you. A lot of people would just freeze up or run out of instinct. I'd definitely advocate for looser gun laws in the UK especially, I don't know anyone who carries a firearm that isn't a farmer, and even then it's more likely a rifle or something. If someone pulled a knife on me in the streets even I doubt I'd try to disarm them unless I was almost entirely sure I could do it. When you aren't exposed to those kind of things (even in an educational sense, like actual self defence instruction) it's really hard to do anything to overcome your natural fight or flight instincts.
With the way shits going its a useful thing to know, same as basic first aid training etc but most people seem to want to brush that kind of stuff under the rug and hope that someone else can take control of the situation if it arises.

Agreed. If you just charge someone with a weapon, you'll most likely get hurt or killed. If you are trained to actually not freak the fuck out (which you still do, you just remind yourself to stay somewhat calm), you can get the upper hand.
Someone's pointing a gun at you as in the video. Throw something to the ground or point behind the attacker, distract him. Now charge at him at speed (he's already in range), push the shooting arm away from you and smack him in the throat. Grab his arm, twist inward (towards his body center) and you'll have him in the police hold. Another approach is to push the gun upwards while he's holding it, ultimately breaking his finger since he has it on the trigger. Important - be fast and stay out of the line of fire, or else you are toast.
