It's pretty standard reading, but take a good look at Plato's Republic. At the very least, it will get you to think carefully about your views.
Also, it's interesting to consider the logical outcome of educating people based on their aptitudes and the country's needs. In an increasingly mechanized world, it's possible that near everyone in Plato's model would be able to get the full philosophical education and then be free to explore their interests as long as the country continues to sustain itself as a community and as a sovereign state.
I would argue against some of Plato's points about the need to remove children from the care of their families, let people have sex in the weird model that he puts forward, and maybe a couple of other things, but the piercing rebuttals provided by Plato are very stimulating for the evaluation (and help in the formulation from murky notions) of one's own views, as mentioned above. Republic and Politics are books that led me to lean toward national socialism quite heavily.
