And there are arguments for such a view but I'm leaving to work soon and can't get into that now. HOWEVER, you're now moving goalposts. The original text is about the beliefs of Christians, not what the Christians can argue for or prove their view (which is important but a separate issue) but rather what they genuinely believe. However there is zero evidence that Christianity historically held this idea but rather much history that they do hold such a view as possible or evident. For instance, their view of Virtuous Pagans in the Early Church is based precisely off such a view.
