>tfw /pol/ thinks Donald Trump extremely outdated Mercantile policies will make America great again

Seriously have any of you ever taken ECON 101?

Mercantilism, which is the idea that the economy is a zero-sum game with winners and losers has been outdated by the time of Samuel Adams.

Donald Trump talking about nations with much worse economies than the USA like Mexico which is marred by corruption making, Japan which has been on a long Deflationary spiral, and China which is on the cusp of an economic bubble that is making Soros shit his pants because he will lose many of his investments there.

I seriously want to think that Donald Trump knows what he is saying is an outdated economical theory and he simply is saying it to get the votes of the uneducated masses. I hope so, because if he trully believes that then not only will America Not be Great Again but the entire world will tremble.

You're retarded, OP.

If you have a degree in that you will know Mercantilism is a failure and only benefits the few over the many. The consumers will get fucked in the ass while the American Merchants in ties with the goverment get the riches.

You're either A) New or B) Trolling.

/pol/ doesn't actually think Trump will make America great again. No one here is so wet-behind-the-ear.

They just cheer for him for being a troll candidate that fucks with the establishment parties and media.
>>
Fuck off, retard.

>Mercantilism, which is the idea that the economy is a zero-sum game with winners and losers has been outdated by the time of Samuel Adams.

What about trump's policy implies that the economy is a zero sum game?

Obviously there are winners and losers in practice.

Big globalist corporations control those people and that education, so they can continue to rip you off while tools like yourself go on /tv/ and tell increasingly poor people how the economy is doing great in very convoluted terms and ways

The economy is zero-sum. This is in the first page of Econ textbooks

Canada is a meme
These people are retarded. There's something seriously wrong with them. They continuously keep fucking up. These people are so backwards that they can come here all day every day, and they still think /pol/ doesn't support, or that most people here are liberals, or that everyone here loves socialism.
These people are insane.
You tell then 2 + 2 = 4 and they'll say ''haha, yeah! 5 it is, bro!''
>>
>>67879399
It absolutely is not in the first page of econ textbooks, unless the econ textbooks you're reading are written in crayon.
>>
>>67878044
What about his policies is a zero sum game? We have fucking aweful deals with these countries that stab us in the back on a regular basis and still give some of them billions in aid anyway.

His view of economics is infinitely better than that of hillary or bernie who seem to think that continueing to incentivize being lazy and shitting out 20 children by pointing a gun at the rest of the population, is somehow going to fix the lower class.

It's another case of the seen vs the unseen. People hear of a factory closing down and moving to China, the "negative" effect of international trade is clearly visible and localized. The lower prices, and the NEW jobs that emerge are totally missed, people just don't make the connection because the losses are localized while the benefits are widely distributed. People take their cheap iPhones for granted.

Also, flawed intuition leads them to the "make work" fallacy, the idea that jobs are an ends, not a means. We work to live better, not for the sake of work.

Trump's ideas on trade are just wrong. Trade is very well understood by economists. If you see politically left and right leaning economists united on an issue, that should tell you something.

Consider that Trump wants to do to America what its enemies would want to do in a time of war. You are supporting a self imposed blockade, it's nonsense.
>>
>>67879574

China is only hurting itself with its restrictions on trade. We should not follow them off the cliff.
>>
>>67880347

How come with his wrong ideas he made billions in an empire and you're shitpostokg about him with your great ideas on a Chinese engraving noticeboard?
>>
>>67880512

He is a businessman, not an economist, they are not the same.
>>
The 1910s through the 1930 lead to globalization which sucked. When the trade wars started during the late 40s and throughout to the 60s american became strong.
>>
Yeah, this is obvious. For how much /pol/ screams about liberals "not understanding economics", it doesn't seem to understand that mercantilism, especially with the kind of communications we have now, is full retard.

Trump's lower taxes/spend more domestic plan is also full retard. It is worse than Hillary's.

trump is a bankrupt clown but maybe the worst is his retarded comments about making iphones in the usa

as if that is remotely possible you need all the component manufacturing to be done in-house that means you arent opening a factory try 1000 factories fat boy.
>>
>>67880347
If you were talking about a free and competitive market you might have a point. As it stands though, we've got internationalists in the GOP pusing for "free trade" which is really arbitrary trade agreements and democrats pushing for more regulations in the workplace. The whole thing turns into a cesspool of higher debt, a stronger regime in china, manipulation of currencies as a proxy for trade restrictions and a weaker US. We're getting fucked slowly from both sides where we couldn't compete even if we tried, it wouldn't be legal. And so what if I have a damn iphone? This is the dumbest argument in the world, I don't even own one of those things yet it's constantly pointed to as "muh free trade benefits". I kid you not, the iphone argument is used constantly by economists and ridiculed here nonstop I'm surprised you mentioned it at all.
>>
>>67878044
You should educate yourself a bit on modern economics.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mundell%E2%80%93Fleming_model

tldr Trump is up on the beat while all others are either repeating weak outdated monetarist and keynesian themes.

You may also consider taking a look into postkeynesian theories.
>>
>>67878044
First, Trump is right.
Second, you really don't under stand supply and demand.
Third, everyone who goes to school for business takes plenty of econ, as well as classes that are tangentially related to econ.
Fourth, this will make your gay ass IPhone more expensive, because apple is buying wage slaves in shit countries that will accept dogshit for money, because that dogshit allows them to eat.
Fifth, when the boarder close up these business can either, fuck off or fine a new way to innovate the cost issue in a way that stays benefiting the United States.
Sixth, the world needs our money flowing through it or all of their production is worthless and they will drop their prices even FURTHER because if we aren't buying their product is worth nothing.
Seventh, this could very positively help Europe because they will start buying at these cheaper prices.
Eighth, Since we don't like getting the same/less for more we will either not buy stupid shit or we will start figuring out better shit faster to keep consumers occupied here at home.
Ninth, This will lead to our American population taking those jobs, and being able to buy slightly inflated phones, which won't rise in price as much since there will be more demand to make up for lower margins.
Tenth, it's no wonder anyone but the US would scream that we shouldn't do this, especially if you are in a manufacturing shithole that relies on sucking American labor lord cock.

>tldr fuck you you're wrong. Also, I'm not going to summarize why because that's how your retarded thoughts came to the surface in the first place.
