What does /pol/ think of Aphex Twin?

he's OK, always thought he was secretly redpilled (having an aversion to the media and valuing your privacy is a red flag for conservative beliefs). i don't like techno in general though

On his soundcloud he also posted about gun rights and climate change being a hoax.

This has nothing to do with politics.

I worked in a record store back in 1997. I heard Aphex Twin for the first time when the "Come To Daddy" EP was released; I was amazed at how organic he made his electronic music sound. It wasn't cold and precise like most techno, it sounded ALIVE. Blew my mind, senpai.

IDM, drill n bass, breakcore etc. was as good as dance music got, until it died out after the early 2000s and was replaced by shit like dubstep and trap. such is life
>>

There's no doubt he was one of the most innovative and important people in electronic music. He's the reason people started taking EDM seriously.

His stuff may sound dated today because it's been done again by so many different artists, but that only shows how influential it is.

>>67872948
There's still some good stuff in that genre, like Venetian Snares and Flying Lotus.

>Venetian Snares and Flying Lotus
They are entirely different.
Also, breakcore a shit in general.
>>
>>67875729

the modern stuff is shit.

>The the real shit that is timeless:
Digital Mystikz, Distance, Vex'd, Clubroot, Commodo, Shackleton, Matty G, Loefah, etc.

A fucking bro.
He got sued by uppity faggoty bandwagon promoters at a wanky festival when he came out with circular sander sheet of sandpaper, put it on the deck, put the stylus on it and ran it for 20 minutes before they cut the power.

He doesn't give a fuck.
He also proudly boosts about programs he writes that right music essentially destroying the artist and industry.
The guy is deeply based, he was decades ahead.

Also innovative videos, should be mentioned.

>Vex'd
What came after the breakup is far more interesting than their dubstep phase.
Roly is making some pretty kickass ambient

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLjeJd4lr9A
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtzjZUJj-PM

Jamie started with kind of Blade Runner-esque wonk y at first
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=en-HmMPpze4
and suddenly went all the way to some dark electric gamelan. Absolutely freaky shit

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ark95JJNuVM

Same with Shackleton, after the dubstep phase he began making music which can hardly be categorized or found anywhere else

Also, Clubroot a shit, like most of the future garage

>implying late 90s gabber that peaked with Thunderdome until the whole scene crashed on its head wasn't GOAT
>implying the late 1990s / early 2000s hard dance hits like anything produced by Scot Project didn't completely revolutionize electronic music to the point that hard trance had essentially peaked upon arrival in 2002
>implying good shit isn't still produced
Case in point, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQs40Q5qFTE

Just waiting on hardcore to get out of its rut now, along with hardstyle and hoping the UK boys start making some hard trance. In the mean time, it's all about frenchcore, baby.

I've heard a lot of shit that takes bits and pieces of it, but as a genre I don't think it really had/has too much widespread appeal. But what the fuck do I know, big room house is popular.
