Its good music. That is it. Don't take it seriously. These guys can make catchy 4 minute songs and have an amazing ability to churn out infinite amounts of one hit wonders time and time again but that is it. The reality is that no matter how great the band members are at playing their instruments or how great the front man is at writing lyrics, that is all they are.
The truth is they all literally dropped out of highschool, smoked weed and picked up a few dictionaries and philosophy books then played to their hearts content. In reality they are pretentious douchebags who don't understand a thing about economics or politics or basically the real world.
The truth is they all lived in a time where punk was so new and exciting to everyone that it made a lot of people rich and influenced a whole lot of trends, music genres, etc.
Punk was a bunch of angry kids who unknowingly adopted socialism while angrily huffing weed and got together with a bunch of other pissed off little cock snots and came up with creative rants. The only credit I'd give them is they could channel their anger into their instruments.
Punks are now dead to me. They have become exactly what they spent their time screaming their lungs out over if they ever had someone to really hate.
Don't get me wrong. The music is great. I love a good 5 minutes of distortion and anger. Letting all that loose is good for you and these kids have come up with amazing stuff. But they aren't the sharpest tools in the shed when you take them out of their tour vans, underground, clubs and away from their instruments.
Not red pilled. Just talented and innovative musicians. Or at least they used to be.

Yes and no.
The 'electronic shit' is an obvious sink for the punk energy. Inexpensive, plentiful, flexible instruments that can be used to create.
But I still think punk requires guitar (or something very similar, Bajo Quinto is close enough for instance.) There is no spontaneity, no immediacy, no intimacy in a sequencer track or even a live keyboard player (unless he's Jerry Lee Lewis, hail the King!) A man holds a guitar in his hands, against his body, it resonates and he becomes part of the resonance.
Electronic shit can't be the whole thing, but I can see it as an available and effective way to generate backing tracks, just not an end in itself.
