What most people fail to understand with Trumps statements is that he can't deport any current Muslim immigrant, whether they are naturalized or not, those waiting on a green card or visa or etc. However there are already existing government branches and laws that permit and allow immigration to be restricted.
So basically what he is talking about is having the Government do a better job of screening people. So how does that affect Muslims already in America? The answer is it simply doesn't. The only thing that could affect them was if a national security agency backed by an appropriate background check deemed someone a potential risk to public safety based on evidence procured through an investigation.
At the end of the day all he said was "I'm going to make the Government do what its supposed to more effectively."
