Hey guys, I’m the person who originally recorded the video of “Carl”. I have to say, I didn’t expect it to blow up like this. And now that it did, I feel a bit bad about it. let me explain.
Firstly, let me start by saying that when I uploaded the video, I knew it would piss you guys off because it portrayed “Carl” as exactly what so many of you hate: An arrogant, stuck up liberal who thinks his opinion is superior to yours even though he can’t even defend it. A “SJW” who depends on feels and not facts, and will yell whenever his opinion is challenged.
Well, it seems that’s exactly how so many people on 4chan took it. And the meme blew up. But i feel a little bit deceiving for it. The truth is, it wasn’t such a simple interaction. After Carl went “ARE YOU SERIOUS?” He started talking about how Hitler’s rise to power depended on blaming a specific group of people and promising to eliminate them from our society. He talked about the rise of fascism when the establishment fell apart, hitler manipulating, blah blah blah. He even said some stuff about the language they use. It seems like he really did his research honestly.
So, there you have it. I don’t agree with Carl. But he DID explain his reasoning. I figured people would realize this considering the video is only 4 seconds long (not nearly enough time to explain his reasoning, even though in truth he is a giant fucking faggot, holy shit). Sorry bro, but I used to be more left wing. While moving into my studies, I experienced an epiphany. As the left moves further left, I find myself disagreeing with the ability of left economic policies to keep the country afloat. On the other hand, I sure as fuck do not want the borders of the U.S. to disappear, so I disagree with both the right and the left in that regard. A country without borders isn't a country. I'm sure Trump will get his shit together if he even wins.
I don't think anyone on /pol/ actually expected him to get this far. It's been so fucking entertaining. We have 8 years of an Obama shitshow that has almost completely come to pass, and we have 8 more years of a Hillary shitshow. I'm excited as fuck to see where this will lead us.

Left wing thought and politics is anathema to the 4chan mentality in a lot of ways. A lot of people on 4chan hate the everyone is special and equal mentality that the left promotes. Many on 4chan believe strongly in individuality, personal responsibility, and tradition. A lot of people on 4chan want to be part of something greater than themselves, but since the left is so off putting, they're drawn to the far-right by default. If you believe in personal accountability, that each individual is responsible for themselves and not necessarily special, and put a lot of value in tradition the left is simply too alienating.
