I got pretty lucky being born into a conservative family. My grandparents are pretty liberal though.
I was telling them about the Swedish government recommending young girls to dress more conservatively in refugee areas to deter rapes/sexual assaults. She actually defended the government and refugees saying girls dress like sluts nowadays etc etc.
So I told her Swedish men have no problem restraining themselves despite how girls dress, and i'm sure they still have dress codes like the US does. It's the refugee's fault and the government's victim blaming in a way.
She just denied and denied, wouldn't accept refugees being bad in anyway. I told her about no-go zones and she wouldn't trust any source that wasn't liberal approved and called it "right wing lunatics trying to scare you for your vote".
It's pretty crazy the mental gymnastics these people do to convince themselves they're "on the good side". And the leaders of their side could never be wrong!

The problem is racism and prejudism often get confused and lumped into racism. If a white female pornstar doesn't want to sleep with a black man because she doesn't find them attractive, she is labeled as racist when in reality, she isn't. If she didn't want to sleep with him because she somehow mistakeningly believed they all had AIDs, that would be racist.
