You want a real red pill? There are hundreds of potential terrorist attacks that could have been subtly ignored. There are hundreds more attacks that have legitimately slipped through the grasp of intelligence agencies. There are also hundreds of known false flags. It's probable that only a handful of people will ever know with certainty what happened.
We do know there are much easier and safer ways to justify a war, and that the US government could probably have caused a much less disputable terrorist attack to be carried out, but that's not proof of anything.
