i went to a lecture by fareed zakaria recently and he tried to explain the outliers for both america and israel in innovation relative to their pisa scores. I believe what he proposed was based on a ranking of how well each thought they did on the test, which was high in each case. also had stuff to do with culture, eg questioning of hierarchy, flexible/abstract thought, etc.

People forget that during the Yom Kippur war, only 40 years ago, Israel almost lost. And losing a war in Israel means another Holocaust.

Well it depends entirely on what the criticisms of Israel are, who is making them, and in what context. If people want to criticize Israel in a manner consistent with comparable nations in comparable circumstances, then that’s not anti-semitic. Israel is a nation-state, and nation-states are not above criticism. But the context of that criticism is important. Israel is surrounded by enemies. The US is surrounded by hapless Mexicans, pleasant Canadians, and fish and whales. Perhaps if you could elaborate on the explotiation you’re referring to, and specific criticisms.
