>Just a corporation
You don't understand Britbong
They aren't a corporation
They're one of the largest monopolies to exist.
I have two internet providers in my area, AT&T and Comcast. Most places ONLY have Comcast as a carrier. Read up on how they anally fuck their customers while offering shit speeds, shit uptime, shit support, and shit bills.

They are so universally reviled that they have lower average approval ratings than the US Congress, even during the year where the Tea Party shut the government down.

Same here. It sucks. What should /pol/ do about this?

Comcast is a media company. They own and operate NBC. Did you expect otherwise?

Vote for Trump and then petition his FCC to force local loop unbundling on all fixed-line broadband ISPs. Petition Congress to pass a law banning state and local ISP monopoly-grant laws and state laws banning municipal networks. Wham, instant competitive market.

Comcast caused such the shitstorm that the Internet is reg'd under Title II in the US now. Inotherwords, it's considered a utility- like water, or electricity. Comcast and Time Warner already screwed up, got popular ire, managed to actually piss everyone off enough that Congress did a bipartisan bill that basically said "lol fuck you assclowns."

Want to see it in action? Write a letter of complaint to the FCC, Comcast is legally bound to respond to your complaint in letter format. Their also legally bound to respond to the FCC, about said complaint. Currently, something like 50,000 complaints with regard to data caps, for example, which translates to 100,000 pieces of paper, and 100,000 stamps and envelopes that Comcast had to shell out just to say "Kay, you don't like datacaps." Once Netflix grows a pair and points out that Datacaps are "Unfair business practices" aimed at "Stifling competition to Comcast," especially since internet is a utility now, it'll stop.

That is the fat of monopolies, to get their balls firmly clenched, and if they step out of line the FCC fines the hell out of 'em. Imho we should use all the fine money to maybe upgrade Comcast's network since they won't.
>>
>lower approval ratings than congress

How a company like that can continue to exist is all the evidence one needs of their corruption.
>>
>>67756901
Because they own Congress and the FCC.

It's because they and Time Warner basically divided up the country (illegal non-compete collusion) and convinced cities and towns desperate for cable TV and broadband internet that they wouldn't cover the whole town without legal monopoly rights. Then they took money from Congress to expand and upgrade their network for DECADES without doing shit, and only now that fiber optic is a real threat in some markets are they boosting speeds. Hell, the only reason they rolled out IPv6 at all is that they ran out of 10.0.0.0/8 private address space for modem management.
