Even if you are the owner of said land you can lose it in less than 5 years if people start living there and you aren't able to denounce them or kick them off.
Then you both will have to go to court. This is a slow process that end up after years, in a non-war zone. Imagine how much time will it pass until you get your property back if you win the sue after war ends.
